The crackdown on protests against the new citizenship law in India continues.<\/p>\n
In the latest crackdown, which human rights activists say has taken an unusual form, the District Magistrate of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh has posted pictures of 57 civil activists and common civilians on billboards across the city, according to Shia News.<\/p>\n
The billboards, which also contained the addresses of the activists’ homes, endangered the lives of these activists and their families because of violent acts by extremist Hindus.<\/p>\n
Following this unconventional move, which has prompted a backlash among the public, Allahabad High Court called the District magistrate of Lucknow\u00a0 Abishik Prakash along with other responsible authorities<\/p>\n
In this court, Judge Ramish Senan warned the Administration of Lucknow and urged him to quickly remove the billboards from the city.<\/p>\n
One of the pictures on these billboards was the image of Sayyed Saif Abbas, one of the representatives of Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Hussein Shirazi in India.<\/p>\n
However, the representative had expressed his personal opinion on the new citizenship law.<\/p>\n
Although the billboards were ordered to be removed, the lives of those activists, including the representative of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi are at risk due to this act of administration.<\/p>\n
