The International Committee of the Red Cross revealed that 19 million Yemenis have lost food security, and that Yemen urgently needs to achieve economic recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The director of the committee’s operations, Martin Schweib, who is visiting Yemen, said, “A full long-term economic recovery in Yemen will only be possible by reaching a political solution that ends the war, which has been going on for eight years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained, in a video clip posted on the committee’s account on Twitter, that two out of three Yemenis suffer from food insecurity, or about 19 million people, while a larger number suffer from their inability to obtain basic health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, \u201cDespite all this, Yemen is largely excluded from the spotlight. We need to ensure the continuation of the support we receive from donors and partners so that we can continue our relief and humanitarian work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
