The Specialized Criminal Court in Saudi Arabia has sentenced Shia cleric Sheikh Mojtaba Al-Nimr to 12 years in prison without legal justification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A local news agency reported that the military forces had arrested Sheikh Mojtaba Al-Nimr, on June 6, 2021, from Dammam Airport, without any legal justification and without knowing the reasons that led to his arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It added that Al-Nimr was detained in an arbitrary, retaliatory way that tells of the authority’s approach to repressive practices against clerics and students of religious seminaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arrest took place during the Sheikh’s return from the holy city of Qom via Qatar Airways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
