The International National Geographic Channel has prepared a report on Muslims’ preparations to commemorate the holy month of Muharram, which it published on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report began by defining the great month, which is the first month of the Hijri calendar dating back to the honorable Prophet\u2019s migration, and it was called Muharram because it was forbidden to fight, however it witnessed the greatest catastrophe that befell Muslims and the world, the martyrdom of Imam Hussein ibn Ali, his family and his companions (peace be upon them) in the land of Karbala in the year 61 AH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report also had photographs depicting some of the commemoration of the Shias for their mourning ceremonies and their Husseini rituals on the painful Ashura commemoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It pointed out that “Shia Muslims from around the world commemorate the first ten days of the Muharram month, and remember the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on the tenth day of the month, which is known as the day of Ashura.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report mentioned that the Shias hold their religious and mourning ceremonies in these days to remember this occasion, by beating their chests, beating their backs with chains, striking their heads with Qamas, in addition to going out in massive mourning marches to commemorate Hussein (peace be upon him).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
