A spokesman for the Ethiopian Amhara State said that the authorities have arrested five people suspected of setting fire to four mosques in the state, at a time when ethnic violence threatens to implement political reforms launched by Prime Minister Abi Ahmed Ali.<\/p>\n

“Five people suspected of leading and organizing the attacks have been arrested,” Amhara State Spokesperson Getent Yursu explained in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n

The spokesman added that a church in the town of Muteh, 377 km north of the capital Addis Ababa, was also targeted by fire, and it was not yet clear who was responsible for this attack, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n
