International human rights organizations have been denouncing human rights and religious freedom violations in Saudi Arabia for years.<\/p>\n

The United States has designated Saudi Arabia as a \u201ccountry of particular concern under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998\u201d that has engaged in or tolerated \u201csystematic, ongoing, [and] egregious violations of religious freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made the announcement on Friday, December 20, through the US Department of State website. The press release, titled \u201cUnited States Takes Action Against Violators of Religious Freedom,\u201d listed multiple countries with poor religious freedom records.<\/p>\n

The designation is part of the United States\u2019 work \u201cto promote religious freedom and combat abuses,\u201d says the statement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
