The official Indonesian newspaper, Kompas, denounced, in an editorial article, the injustice shown by the Umayyad tyrant, “Yazid bin Muawiyah”, may God curse him, during his usurpation of the position of Muslim leadership following a series of conspiracies and intrigues planted by the Umayyad dynasty in the body of the Islamic nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the beginning of its article, the newspaper said, \u201cYazid ibn Muawiyah, may God curse him, was the second Umayyad ruler, succeeding his father Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan,\u201d stressing that \u201cthe appointment of Yazid to this position was the first hereditary rule in Islamic history, not to mention that this transfer of power was not of the Arab customs and traditions at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The author of the article, “Verelladevanka Adryamarthanino”, added that “even when Yazid was named (caliph), he was not recognized by many Islamic figures because it was considered a violation of the agreement that Muawiyah made with Imam Hassan ibn Ali, peace be upon him, in 661 AD.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adryamarthanino added, “What also intensified the hatred of the Muslims of Hijaz for the new ruler is his corrupt lifestyle and his authoritarian way of ruling that tends to crush any rebellion or opposition image by harsh means,” noting that among the most prominent examples of the tyranny and deviation of Yazid ibn Muawiyah is killing the grandson of the Prophet of Islam, Imam Hussein ibn Ali, peace be upon him, in the Battle of Karbala on October 10, 680 AD, due to the latter’s refusal to accept the new regime as a representative of Muslims around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
