{"id":8265,"date":"2019-11-23T15:27:54","date_gmt":"2019-11-23T15:27:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/news\/world\/8265-more-than-50-mps-from-the-european-parliament-demand-health-care-for-prisoners-of-conscience-in-bahrain\/"},"modified":"2019-11-23T15:27:54","modified_gmt":"2019-11-23T15:27:54","slug":"more-than-50-mps-from-the-european-parliament-demand-health-care-for-prisoners-of-conscience-in-bahrain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/news\/world\/8265-more-than-50-mps-from-the-european-parliament-demand-health-care-for-prisoners-of-conscience-in-bahrain\/","title":{"rendered":"More than 50 MPs from the European Parliament demand health care for prisoners of conscience in Bahrain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\">More than 50 members of the European Parliament have asked the European Union envoy in Riyadh to press Manama in regards to the denial of treatment to political prisoners in Bahrain.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>More than 50 members of the European Parliament have asked the European Union envoy in Riyadh to press Manama in regards to the denial of treatment to political prisoners in Bahrain.<\/p>\n<p>A letter addressed to the head of the EU delegation to Saudi Arabia, Servoni Dorso, signed by a total of 52 members of the European Parliament, confirms that medical negligence, delays and arbitrary exercise of authority in Bahrain&#8217;s prison system have been well documented.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We urge the EU delegation in Riyadh to use its own public and private channels to advocate on behalf of Hassan Mushaima, Dr. Jalil Al-Singace, Ali Haji, Naji Fateel, Hajar Mansour and Madinat Ali and to ensure that their basic rights in prison are respected, while ensuring their release.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The six detainees were subjected to various forms of abuse and torture in detention, and denied immediate medical attention, as a form of punishment.<\/p>\n<p>The letter also condemns one of Manama&#8217;s oversight bodies, primarily the National Human Rights Institution for not fulfilling its role.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 50 members of the European Parliament have asked the European Union envoy in Riyadh to press Manama in regards to the denial of treatment to political prisoners in Bahrain.
