Two mosques in Besan\u00e7on were tagged on the night of November 19 to 20 with crosses of Lorraine. Local leaders of the Muslim faith condemn an attack aimed \u201cat spreading hatred\u201d. An investigation has been opened.
\u201cThe attacked aimed at delivering an anti-Muslim message,\u201d according to the mosques\u2019 directors.
\u201cThe Islamic Cultural Center of Franche-Comt\u00e9 (CCIFC) strongly condemns these acts whose sole purpose is to spread hatred and rejection of the other\u201d, reacted in a statement Khalid Jarmouni, the president of the CCIFC who manages the mosque of Fontaine-Ecu, where six crosses were drawn in red paint.
Tahar Belhadj, spokesperson of the second mosque, also condemned these \u201cIslamophobic\u201d acts. \u201cThese acts are a consequence of the (presidential) electoral campaign which attacks Islam,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s always like that on the eve of the presidential election, we use Islam as a scapegoat,\u201d he said.
The two association leaders have expressed their intention to file a complaint. The Besan\u00e7on prosecutor\u2019s office announced that a preliminary investigation had been opened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
