On the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the International Nonviolence Organization, Free Muslim, affirmed that the fate of many of journalists is still unknown while dozens of others are in prison.
In a statement received by Shia Waves, the organization stated, “The fate of many journalists remains unknown as we write these lines, while dozens of others are languishing in prisons without hope of being released, in a clear manifestation of the political repression practiced by authoritarian regimes around the world.
It added that, as it commemorates on November 2, the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, it calls on the United Nations to pay more attention to the rights of journalists to reduce the threats facing them around the world, stressing the need to intensify efforts to reveal the fate of those who have disappeared and to work for the release of those subjected to arbitrary sentences.
The organization said that it supports the human rights organizations that call holding the perpetrators responsible for killing or harming journalists, and stressed the need to protect and enhance the affairs of workers in media, especially since it is an essential pillar in the consolidation and popularization of democracy in all countries of the international community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
