The international news site Prensa Latina confirmed that the remembrance of the martyrs of the battle of Karbala over the centuries is a matter of appreciation as heroes of the resistance who died in defense of the truth.
In a report on one of the most prominent religious occasions in Islamic history, the site said, “The tenth day of the sacred month of Muharram in the Islamic calendar, or Ashura, is the date that coincides with the martyrdom of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, Imam Hussein ibn Ali, peace be upon him, in the midst of an unequal battle in Karbala in the year 680 AD.\u201d
The report added, “Hussein, peace be upon him, sacrificed his life to revive Islam, which Yazid was trying to obliterate, and who unjustly occupied the position of caliphate of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him and his progeny,.”
