The number of Bahrainis detained since the start of last week\u2019s US-led conference in Manama appears to be far higher than previously reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to data compiled by Bahraini rights campaigner Ebtisam al-Saegh, at least 40 people have been arrested in recent days.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Al-Saegh is reporting that some of those have been subjected to incommunicado detention before being released while other remain incarcerated.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, the activist adds that the latest campaign of arrests is still ongoing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It remains unclear if those detained are actually being charged with any crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n
