\u201cFueled by racial, political, nationalist and ethnic motives, physical and mental torture are still being used by oppressive regimes and terrorist organizations in order to draw confessions from people, in blatant defiance to all international laws and regulations.<\/p>\n
Under international laws, torture is counted a criminal action and it cannot be justified under no circumstances. In fact, torture is the redline that should not be crossed by any member of the international community, regardless of the conditions and reasons. Today, it is public knowledge that torture is a dehumanizing act that would lead to the degradation of individual and social dignity.<\/p>\n
On 12 December 1997, by resolution 52\/149, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 26 June the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, with a view to the total eradication of torture and the effective functioning of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.<\/p>\n
However, multiple reports have confirmed the frequent use of torture in our civilized world.\u00a0<\/p>\n
