Noran Omar, the creative media director of the event, said all of the organizers have immigrant parents and wanted to foster a sense of community among Muslims and other groups.<\/p>\n
There will be about 50 vendors and special events are scheduled throughout the day, like eating contests and cooking demonstrations, according to The New York Times.<\/p>\n
The Festival is slated for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and admission is free.\u00a0<\/p>\n
