The European Saudi Organization for Human Rights confirmed that executions in the first half of 2021 are witnessing a jump and raise fears that the number of executions will double.
The Saudi Human Rights Commission said in a statement that the Kingdom reduced the number of executions carried out in 2020, noting that 27 executions were carried out, which represents a decrease of 85% compared to 2019, which recorded 184 executions.
The commission’s statement since its issuance has shown a lack of transparency in Saudi Arabia’s handling of the executions file, as the statement said that 27 sentences had been carried out, while official data was only published on 25 sentences monitored by the organization.
The organization said that the figures recorded since the beginning of the year 2021 raise fears that the number of executions carried out until the end of the year has doubled compared to the previous year, stressing that this clearly indicates a lack of any confidence in the promises and statements of Saudi Arabia, and thus its continued threat to minors.
The European organization stressed that the lives of dozens, including at least 4 minors, Abdullah Al-Hwaiti, Sajjad Al-Yassin, Jalal Al-Labad, Youssef Al-Manasif, are in imminent danger, especially in light of the lack of transparency in Saudi Arabia\u2019s handling of the execution files, and the risk of murder continues to threaten the life of 5 minors, Muhammad Al-Faraj, Ahmed Al-Faraj, Ali Al-Bati, Muhammad Al-Nimr and Ali Al-Faraj, after the Public Prosecution requested the maximum punitive punishment for them, in light of the legal ambiguity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
