{"id":6507,"date":"2018-10-07T08:43:49","date_gmt":"2018-10-07T08:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/news\/world\/6507-hearing-adjourned-in-india-quran-desecration-case\/"},"modified":"2018-10-07T08:43:49","modified_gmt":"2018-10-07T08:43:49","slug":"hearing-adjourned-in-india-quran-desecration-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shiawaves.com\/english\/news\/world\/6507-hearing-adjourned-in-india-quran-desecration-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Hearing adjourned in India Quran desecration case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A local court in Sangrur, a town in the Indian state of Punjab, on Thursday adjourned the Malerkotla Quran sacrilege case to October 11 to decide on the charges.<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h4>\u00a0<\/h4>\n<h4>A local court in Sangrur, a town in the Indian state of Punjab, on Thursday adjourned the Malerkotla Quran sacrilege case to October 11 to decide on the charges.<\/h4>\n<h4>On the last date of hearing, the police had opposed the Aam Aadmi Party\u2019s Delhi legislator Naresh Yadav\u2019s application for a probe into the bank accounts of Vijay Kumar, the main accused in the sacrilege case.<\/h4>\n<h4>Yadav\u2019s counsel Narpal Singh Dhaliwal said the court would decide on the charges on the next date of hearing.<\/h4>\n<h4>Earlier, the Sangrur police wrote to the court that challan has been produced and the case is at the \u201cframing of charges\u201d stage.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u201cAt the charges stage, the accused has no right to submit any document or file application for more documents. We appeal the court that this application be cancelled and charges framed against the accused,\u201d police told the court. However, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Dinesh Kumar fixed October 11 as the next date.<\/h4>\n<h4>Vijay Kumar, the main accused in the burning of Quran in Malerkotla on June 24, 2016 had claimed that he did it at the behest of \u201chis friend\u201d Yadav. Later, Vijay made a u-turn before the media alleging that the police forced him to name Yadav in the case.
