On Saturday, Iraq\u2019s security forces, backed by military aircraft and volunteer forces, retook control of al-Sodour dam near the city of Muqdadiyah, some 62 miles northeast of the capital, Baghdad, killing eight terrorists, according to Adnan al-Timimi, head of the town council.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Iraqi security forces managed to liberate seven villages in Shirween rural area northeast of Muqdadiyah following heavy clashes that killed 10 ISIL militants, said Khudir Muslim, a member of Diyala provincial council.<\/p>\n
