19-year-old Fatima Daoud Hassan and 31-year-old Zakia al-Berbouri were arbitrarily detained in the Bahraini village of Nuwaidrat on May 17.<\/p>\n
According to activists, the reasons for the pair\u2019s arrest and their condition remain unknown.<\/p>\n
Brief phone calls from the two to their families revealed that they are being held at the Criminal Investigation Directorate.<\/p>\n
Rights groups accuse Manama of jailing a handful of Bahraini women for their activism or in an act of reprisal against their male relatives.<\/p>\n
