The copy is said to date back to the early years after the advent of Islam, according to al-Hayat daily.<\/p>\n
A seven-strong committee of experts did the repairing and restoring work at the national Dar-ul-Kutub (library) in Cairo with help from a number of foreign experts.<\/p>\n
The library received the copy in 1870 and since then there had been several attempts to repair it.<\/p>\n
The Quran manuscript measures 61 by 54 by 15 centimeters and has a thick leather cover added to it when it was given to the library some 150 years ago.<\/p>\n
