Husseini institutions in Australia continue holding mourning ceremonies starting from the first day of Safar Month on the occasion of the Hassani Ten Days.<\/h4>\n

A mourning ceremony has been held at Husseiniyah Al Yassin where many religious lectures have been delivered on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Ruqayya, daughter of Imam Hussein, and Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba, peace be upon them.<\/h4>\n

In an effort to bring about a richer understanding of the Quran, a group of mostly American-born and university-based Islamic scholars have produced a new translation of the Islamic sacred text.<\/h4>\n

They say a key aim of the new translation and commentary, titled \u201cThe Study Quran\u201d is to show how the Quran\u2019s verses have been understood historically in order to better understand their meaning and applicability today.<\/h4>\n

A byproduct of that work is that it could lead to a better understanding of some of the more controversial topics in Islam, such as when use of force is permitted, one scholar involved in the project said.<\/h4>\n

The new 2,000-page translation and commentary, which will be formally released later this month, is the culmination of a decade\u2019s worth of research that began after editors at HarperOne approached Dr. Seyyed Hussein Nasr, longtime University Professor of Islamic Studies at George Washington University.<\/h4>\n

Nasr said that, although the project began several years after the 9\/11 attacks, which caused interest in the Quran to soar, the publisher\u2019s interest in producing \u201cThe Study Quran\u201d actually pre-dates the 9\/11 attacks.<\/h4>\n
