United States: Texas Halal Restaurant Uses AI Assistant to Handle Orders in Seven Languages

————————————————————————-

A halal restaurant in Texas is using artificial intelligence to take customer orders, answer phone calls, and manage requests in seven languages, highlighting the growing adoption of modern technology in the halal food industry.

Wok & Karahi, located in Spring, Texas, has introduced an AI-powered virtual assistant named Hania to welcome customers, record orders, and communicate with diners across multiple languages. The system is designed to improve customer service while reducing the restaurant’s day-to-day operational workload.

The restaurant’s decision to adopt the technology followed the departure of its only waiter. Rather than hiring a replacement, the family that owns the business opted for an AI-powered system to manage incoming orders and streamline operations.

Hania allows customers to place orders through QR codes, the restaurant’s website, and telephone calls. Customers can also customize meal ingredients according to their preferences and dietary requirements.

The system enables diners to communicate food allergies and other specific needs when placing their orders, helping ensure that these requirements are recorded for order preparation. Requests submitted through the different channels are consolidated into a single digital system, making them easier for staff to monitor and manage.

The AI assistant operates around the clock, allowing the restaurant to receive orders and inquiries beyond the usual working hours of its employees.

By centralizing customer requests, the system is intended to reduce the likelihood of missed orders and errors in order registration. Its multilingual capabilities also help the restaurant communicate with a wider customer base without requiring a separate employee for each service channel.

Restaurant manager Abbas Zob said the technology had eased the daily workload and improved the organization of orders. He added that the system enables the business to handle customer interactions across multiple channels without assigning a dedicated employee to each one.

The restaurant’s owners estimate that adopting the AI system generates economic benefits worth approximately $9,650 per month.
