\nActor and rights activist Prakash Raj has alleged that Form 7 applications are being misused during Karnataka\u2019s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to seek the deletion of around 21,000 Muslim voters.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Hosapete on Thursday during his 10-day SIR Resistance Tour, Raj cited an incident in Belagavi where he said 200 Form 7 applications were submitted at a single polling booth, all seeking the deletion of Muslim voters\u2019 names. He alleged that the forms contained printed voter details but handwritten information about the applicants.<\/p>\n
Raj further claimed that the applications were linked to a local BJP activist and said his team would collect complaints and evidence from polling booths during the tour. He said the material would be compiled into a report on September 30 and subsequently presented at a press conference and submitted to Karnataka authorities.<\/p>\n
The allegations have not been independently established. Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan said no voter had been deleted on the basis of the objections submitted at the polling station and that the administration would investigate the complaints. BJP MLA Abhay Patil also rejected allegations of targeting Muslim voters, saying his communication to election officials sought verification of potentially invalid voter entries.<\/p>\n
