Global Water Crisis Deepens as Solar Desalination, AI Emerge as Potential Solutions

A joint report by the World Health Organization and UNICEF in 2025 found that around 2.1 billion people worldwide still lack access to safely managed drinking water. Data from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) also indicates a continued decline in renewable water availability per capita, while agriculture remains the largest consumer of freshwater resources.<\/p>\n
The crisis is particularly severe in North Africa and West Asia.
