A broad meeting was held in the Canadian city of Montreal, bringing together a number of scholars, officials of Islamic centers, and representatives of Muslim communities to discuss a range of legal, social, and political issues concerning community members, most notably the hijab issue, the upcoming elections, and ways to strengthen coordination among Islamic institutions.
The Imam Shirazi World Center and the Iranian Islamic Center hosted the second meeting on Saturday evening, bringing together religious figures, officials, and activists from the Lebanese, Iraqi, Afghan, and Iranian communities in Montreal.
A number of scholars took part in the meeting, including Sheikh Mohammad Mehdi al-Nasiri, Sayyid Nabil Abbas, Sheikh Mohammad Nadeem al-Ta\u2019i, Sayyid Mousa al-Fali, Sheikh Saleh Sibawayh, and Sheikh Ali al-Subaiti, along with officials and activists from the participating centers and institutions.
Participants discussed legal developments related to the hijab and their implications for Muslims. They also examined the political landscape and the upcoming elections, stressing the importance of following these developments and raising awareness among community members about issues affecting their interests and presence in Canadian society.
The meeting also addressed a number of social problems and challenges facing Muslims in Montreal, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation and communication among different Islamic centers and working jointly to address issues concerning the community.
On the social and youth front, a recreational scouting camp with a capacity of around 100 people was announced during the meeting, with the aim of providing a space for activities, programs, and social gatherings and strengthening communication among community members.
Participants agreed to turn these meetings into regular monthly gatherings, to be hosted by Islamic centers on a rotating basis, in addition to forming a committee to follow up on the meetings and issues and files related to community affairs.
The Lebanese Islamic Center in Montreal is scheduled to host the next meeting next month as part of continued coordination and cooperation among Islamic institutions and centers in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
