The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has warned that nearly one million children in Afghanistan are at risk of death due to severe acute malnutrition, amid the worsening humanitarian crisis and declining funding allocated for relief and nutrition programs. <\/p>\n
The organization reported today, Tuesday, August 25th, that approximately 3.7 million children in Afghanistan are suffering from wasting, a form of acute malnutrition, including about one million children who are facing severe life-threatening conditions unless they receive necessary treatment and aid.<\/p>\n
The UNICEF representative in Afghanistan highlighted that the numbers reflect the severity of the situation faced by the children, warning that failure to take urgent actions and provide necessary support could put many of their lives at risk.<\/p>\n
The crisis coincides with a decline in international funding allocated for humanitarian operations, which threatens the ability of relief organizations to provide therapeutic food and medical supplies and to reach the most vulnerable children, particularly in remote areas.<\/p>\n
