A Polish Church Replaces Parking Fees with Prayers<\/p>\n
A local church in western Poland has adopted an unusual way of regulating the use of its parking lot, replacing monetary fees with prayers and assigning different prayers according to the length of time a driver remains parked.
\nAccording to the tariff announced by the church, parking for one hour requires reciting the \u201cLord\u2019s Prayer,\u201d while a two-hour stay requires the \u201cLord\u2019s Prayer\u201d and the \u201cHail Mary.\u201d
\nDrivers who use the parking lot for up to four hours are asked to recite the \u201cLitany of Loreto,\u201d while the fee for a full day is set at reciting the \u201cRosary\u201d and praying for all road users.
\nThe church has not introduced any monitoring system to verify whether drivers comply with the prayer-based tariff, nor will it impose fines or penalties on parking users, leaving adherence to the initiative to each individual\u2019s personal conscience.
\nAt the entrance to the parking lot, the church placed a sign explaining the philosophy behind the initiative: \u201cWe do not issue fines; the human conscience works around the clock.\u201d
