CAIR: 255 Muslim Elected Officials and Judges in the United States in 2026<\/p>\n
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has reported a growing Muslim presence in positions of public responsibility and civic representation across the United States, with 255 Muslim American elected officials and judges serving in various positions across 26 states in 2026.
\nAccording to the 2026 Directory of Muslim Elected Officials, 110 of those serving in such positions are Muslim women, representing 43.1 percent of the total, while 145 are men, accounting for 56.9 percent.
\nThe statistics showed a diverse range of political and civic representation. The list includes 32 members of state houses of representatives, 14 state senators, 109 mayors and city council members, 63 school board members, 18 judges, and 15 officials serving in other positions.
\nAt the state level, New Jersey topped the list with 46 Muslim officials, followed by Michigan with 40 and California with 24. The remaining officials are distributed across other states, bringing the total number of states with Muslim representation to 26.
\nThese figures reflect the expanding participation of Muslim Americans in public life and in local government, legislation, education, and the judiciary, as well as the growing presence of Muslim women in elected positions of responsibility.
