The “Najad” Islamic Foundation in Bangladesh concluded a Quran recitation contest, featuring the participation of approximately 3000 contestants from various parts of the country. This initiative aimed to encourage young generations to learn proper recitation and to reinforce religious and moral values.<\/p>\n
The final ceremony of the competition took place at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital, Dhaka, following contests that began on February 5 and covered ten regions across Bangladesh. These were overseen by a panel of judges composed of a group of Quran and recitation specialists.<\/p>\n
Thirty contestants advanced to the final stage, where they performed live recitations in front of the panel, which selected the top three contestants in each of the three age categories, bringing the total number of top prize winners to nine.<\/p>\n
The judging panel relied on five main criteria to evaluate the participants: the correctness of pronunciation, adherence to the rules of Tajweed, precision in recitation, quality of voice, and overall performance level.<\/p>\n
The Foundation allocated cash prizes for the winners, amounting to 50,001 Taka for the first place, 30,001 Taka for the second place, and 20,001 Taka for the third place, in addition to trophies and certificates of appreciation. Furthermore, the thirty finalists received financial rewards and certificates of appreciation.<\/p>\n
Professor Dr. Shahid Islam Barakati, Chairman of the Islamic Jurisprudence Oversight Committee, stated that the initiative aims to encourage children to learn the correct recitation of the Quran from a young age and to instill moral values and discipline in them. He expressed his hope to expand the scope of the competition in the coming years.<\/p>\n
In turn, the “Najad” Foundation affirmed that the contest contributed to enhancing Islamic culture and strengthening the bonds among members of the Muslim community.
