More Than 800,000 Displaced Lebanese Return Home as Rome Talks Begin

\nMore than 800,000 people displaced by the recent conflict in Lebanon have returned to their homes as violence has eased, while more than 360,000 people remain displaced, according to figures cited by the United Nations.<\/p>\n
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that, as of July 30, approximately 821,077 displaced people had returned to their areas of origin. The figures indicate that a significant number of residents who were forced to leave their homes during the recent fighting are now returning to towns and villages across the country.<\/p>\n
Despite the large-scale returns, OCHA said more than 360,000 people remain displaced. Around 26,000 of them are currently staying in government-run shelters, highlighting the continuing humanitarian needs caused by the conflict.<\/p>\n
The UN statement was issued as a new round of US-backed talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives began in Rome.
