\nAfghan disaster management authorities have issued warnings over the risk of heavy rainfall, flash floods, thunderstorms, and strong dust-laden winds affecting 13 provinces, urging residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures.<\/p>\n
The Meteorological Department of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation predicted rainfall levels of between 10 and 35 millimeters in the affected areas, with a heightened risk of flash floods and overflowing waterways, particularly in mountainous regions and areas near rivers and flood channels.<\/p>\n
Authorities also warned of strong winds carrying dust across parts of central, eastern, southern, southeastern, and western Afghanistan. Residents were advised to avoid riverbanks and streams and to follow safety measures to reduce potential human and material losses.<\/p>\n
The latest warnings come after a series of deadly floods in several Afghan provinces in recent weeks. Flooding in Nuristan province reportedly killed at least 23 people, injured more than 80 others, and left over 100 people missing, while causing extensive damage to homes, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Afghanistan frequently faces severe impacts from heavy rains, floods, and landslides.
