Bosnia Marks 31st Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide as 10 More Victims Are Buried

\nBosnia and Herzegovina marked the 31st anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide with the burial of 10 newly identified victims at the Poto\u010dari Memorial Cemetery on July 11, 2026.<\/p>\n
According to Anadolu Agency, the funeral and memorial ceremony was attended by international officials, ambassadors, representatives from T\u00fcrkiye, and thousands of relatives of the victims.<\/p>\n
The remains of the 10 victims were identified through DNA testing and buried after their families gave consent. Their burial brought the total number of victims laid to rest at Poto\u010dari to 6,782.<\/p>\n
The youngest victim buried this year was 20-year-old Senad Jusi\u0107, while the oldest was Ramo Dautovi\u0107, who was 56 at the time of the massacre.<\/p>\n
The Srebrenica genocide took place after Bosnian Serb forces under Ratko Mladi\u0107 captured the town on July 11, 1995. At least 8,372 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed and buried in mass graves. Efforts to locate, identify, and bury the remaining victims are still continuing more than three decades later.<\/p>\n
