Security officials said the arrests followed operations in central Damascus and nearby areas after the July 7 explosions. Ahmed al-Dalati, head of Damascus Internal Security, told state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya that investigators first identified one suspect, placed the individual under surveillance, and later arrested other alleged members of the network.<\/p>\n
Authorities said preliminary investigations indicate the suspects had links to ISIS, though no public evidence has yet been released. The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
The explosions occurred near the hotel where the French delegation was staying, prompting tighter security around government buildings, diplomatic sites, and public areas.
