\nThe United Nations has warned of catastrophic consequences if large-scale hostilities resume in the Middle East, saying any renewed escalation could threaten the security of people across the region, international peace, and the global economy amid recent tensions between the United States and Iran.<\/p>\n
Elizabeth Spehar, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support, said every military strike or new incident increases the risk of miscalculation. She added that the UN Secretary-General condemns all attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure and stresses the need to protect residential areas, ports, energy facilities, commercial vessels, and their crews.<\/p>\n
