Over 640,000 Displaced Lebanese Return Home Following Ceasefire, Decline in Regional Fighting

\nMore than 640,000 displaced Lebanese have returned to their homes following a ceasefire and a significant reduction in hostilities, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).<\/p>\n
The displacement crisis escalated after cross-border exchanges of fire led to intensified military operations, including extensive airstrikes and ground offensives in southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n
According to Lebanese authorities, the conflict claimed approximately 4,300 lives and forced more than one million people to flee their homes.<\/p>\n
Citing the IOM, Middle East News reported that since a ceasefire took effect in late June under an agreement between Tehran and Washington aimed at ending the regional conflict, more than 640,000 displaced people have returned to their homes in southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.<\/p>\n
In its latest report, based on locally collected data, the IOM noted that despite the large-scale return of displaced residents, around 500,000 people remain displaced due to the continuing humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
