Iraqi Tribes Participate in Ritual Burial Commemoration of Pure Bodies of Martyrs of Karbala

\nThe holy city of Karbala witnessed on Monday afternoon, the 13th of Muharram, the annual ritual known as the Bani Asad mourning procession, commemorating the burial of the pure bodies of the martyrs of Karbala. The ceremony saw wide participation from Iraqi tribes, along with an active presence of women mourners.<\/p>\n
A correspondent for Shia Waves Agency in Karbala reported that large numbers of honorable Iraqi tribes from Karbala and other provinces took part in the historic Bani Asad mourning procession to revive the ritual burial commemoration of the martyrs of the tragedy of Karbala.<\/p>\n
The participating tribes began their walking procession from the shrine of Sayyid Jawda al-Mahna toward the shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas, peace be upon them, carrying banners of loyalty and mourning on this solemn occasion.<\/p>\n
The mourners came to offer condolences to the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, over this painful tragedy. The ritual recalls the historic role of the Bani Asad tribes, who lived in Karbala and assisted Imam al-Sajjad, peace be upon him, in burying the pure bodies of Imam Hussein, his family, and his companions, peace be upon them.<\/p>\n
The Bani Asad tribe holds this ceremony every year on this day of Muharram. Members of the tribe march in large mourning processions, joined by other tribes, Husseini organizations, and service processions, renewing the memory of the burial of the martyrs of Ashura.<\/p>\n
This Husseini ritual includes many traditions that combine religious mourning practices with blessed tribal customs.
