Captive Caravan of Ahlulbayt Moves Toward Kufa: Beginning of Second Chapter of Husseini Uprising

\nFollowing the heartbreaking tragedy of Ashura in 61 AH, the forces of Yazid moved the pure family of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, from Karbala toward Kufa as captives on the 11th and 12th of Muharram.<\/p>\n
This sorrowful yet steadfast caravan marked the beginning of a new chapter in the Husseini uprising, as its arrival at the governor\u2019s palace in Kufa would expose the crimes of the Umayyad regime through the powerful sermons of Lady Zainab al-Kubra, peace be upon her, and Imam al-Sajjad, peace be upon him.<\/p>\n
After the bloody sunset of Ashura and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his loyal companions, Shia history entered one of its most painful yet heroic phases.<\/p>\n
On the 11th of Muharram, Umar ibn Sa\u2019d ordered the caravan of captives to move toward Kufa after burying the bodies of his own soldiers while leaving the pure, wounded bodies of the martyrs of Karbala on the burning sands.<\/p>\n
The caravan consisted of the women of the Prophet\u2019s household, the noble ladies of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and young children. They were placed on unsaddled camels, while Imam Zain al-Abideen, peace be upon him, severely ill and bound in chains, was made to move ahead of them.<\/p>\n
To intensify the suffering of the family of the Messenger of Allah, the army forced the caravan to pass by the bloodstained bodies of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and the martyrs. This painful scene caused the cries of the angels and the heartbreaking lamentation of Lady Zainab al-Kubra, peace be upon her.<\/p>\n
After enduring this painful journey, the lonely caravan of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, entered Kufa on the 12th of Muharram. It was the same city whose people had once sent letters inviting Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, but were now standing under the strict security measures of Ibn Ziyad, watching the children of the Prophet being brought as captives.<\/p>\n
Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad had ordered the blessed heads of the martyrs to be carried on spears ahead of the caravan, hoping to display the apparent victory of tyranny and spread fear among the people.<\/p>\n
However, this outward captivity soon became the greatest public trial exposing the Umayyads.<\/p>\n
Despite all the suffering, hunger, and thirst they had endured, Lady Zainab al-Kubra and Imam al-Sajjad, peace be upon them, delivered powerful and moving sermons in the streets and markets of Kufa and later in the palace of Ibn Ziyad. Their words shattered the attempt to distort the truth of Ashura.<\/p>\n
The firm speeches of the noble ladies of the Prophet\u2019s household awakened the sleeping consciences of the people of Kufa, brought tears to their eyes, and shook the foundations of the unjust rule.
