High Committee for Mass Pilgrimages Announces Success of Ashura Plan

\nThe head of the High Committee for Mass Pilgrimages and Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, announced on Friday the full success of the security plan for the Ashura pilgrimage in Karbala province.<\/p>\n
In a statement, al-Muhammadawi said the success of the plan was based on integrated strategic pillars and operational axes, in which the efforts of the state and its institutions worked together with public awareness.<\/p>\n
He said the plan was marked by direct and effective field presence from commanders and officers of the ministries of Defense and Interior, the Popular Mobilization Forces, supporting forces, and volunteers. This helped provide a stable and fully secured environment across all operational sectors and routes leading to the city.<\/p>\n
Al-Muhammadawi also pointed to what he described as a high level of administrative and service integration. He said the pilgrimage witnessed broad coordination led by the local government in Karbala, in close cooperation with the administrations of the holy shrines, service and support ministries, and volunteer teams. This contributed to the round-the-clock provision of logistical and health services.<\/p>\n
He praised public awareness and cooperation with visitors as the key to success, commending the exceptional responsibility shown by pilgrims, participants in Husseini rituals, those taking part in the Tuwairij Run, and the owners of service processions and organizations.<\/p>\n
He said this shared awareness helped ensure smooth traffic flow, avoid the closure of main roads, and provide flexible transport vehicles across the province and at the Baghdad garage.<\/p>\n
