WHO Warns Ebola Still Spreading as Africa CDC Funds Emergency Response

\nThe World Health Organization has warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains a serious public health threat, as new infections continue to appear despite ongoing containment efforts.<\/p>\n
According to WHO figures, health authorities have recorded 896 confirmed cases and 232 deaths across 33 health zones in three provinces. The organization said 78 patients have recovered so far, stressing that early diagnosis and timely medical care remain essential to saving lives.<\/p>\n
The WHO has deployed more than 115 health experts and sent over 110 tons of emergency medical and logistical supplies to affected areas. However, officials warned that insecurity, poor access to high-risk zones, weak contact tracing, underreported deaths, and population displacement continue to hinder response operations.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention announced $107 million in emergency funding to support Ebola response efforts in Congo and Uganda. Africa CDC officials said the outbreak in Congo is approaching 1,000 confirmed cases, while Uganda has reported 31 cases, though no new infections have been recorded there in recent days.<\/p>\n
