MuslimFree Calls for Stronger Refugee Protection on World Refugee Day

\nThe World Nonviolence Organization, MuslimFree, has renewed its call for stronger international efforts to protect refugees and forcibly displaced people, saying the refugee crisis must be treated as a humanitarian issue requiring broad global cooperation.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued from its headquarters in Washington on World Refugee Day, the organization said the occasion highlights the suffering of millions of people forced to leave their homes because of armed conflicts, persecution and humanitarian crises.<\/p>\n
Muslim Free said refugees have lost security and stability and continue to search for safe and dignified lives. It stressed that refugees are victims of conflict and crisis, not a burden on host societies, and should be given opportunities to contribute positively to the communities in which they live.<\/p>\n
The organization said refugee protection is a shared international responsibility. It called on the global community to increase support for humanitarian agencies, expand safe and legal migration pathways, and strengthen burden-sharing mechanisms among states.<\/p>\n
The statement also urged action to address the root causes of forced displacement, including ending armed conflicts, promoting respect for human rights, and spreading a culture of tolerance and nonviolence.<\/p>\n
MuslimFree expressed concern over rising hate speech and discrimination against refugees in several countries, calling on governments, media outlets and civil society organizations to confront such trends and promote coexistence and mutual respect.<\/p>\n
