National Conference in Islamabad Calls for Islamic Unity Ahead of Muharram

\nThe Council of Islamic Ideology held its annual national conference on Islamic unity and sectarian rapprochement at its headquarters in Islamabad, bringing together senior scholars and representatives of various Islamic schools of thought.<\/p>\n
The conference was organized as part of efforts to strengthen national unity and promote dialogue, understanding and peaceful coexistence among Muslims.<\/p>\n
Participants stressed the importance of reinforcing Islamic brotherhood and cooperation among different religious communities, especially in light of the challenges facing Pakistan, the region and the wider Islamic world.<\/p>\n
Scholars attending the event said the month of Muharram carries deep religious and historical significance for Muslims, reflecting values such as patience, steadfastness, sacrifice and commitment to Islamic principles.<\/p>\n
They also highlighted the tragedy of Karbala and the sacrifices of Imam Hussein, his family and his companions, peace be upon them, describing it as a universal Islamic and humanitarian message calling for support of truth, resistance to injustice and stronger unity among Muslims.<\/p>\n
The participants said current circumstances require greater efforts to promote Islamic unity and closer ties between schools of thought. They emphasized the need to uphold the code of conduct agreed upon by the Council of Islamic Ideology, the Pakistani government, the national \u201cPaigham-e-Pakistan\u201d committee and scholars from different sects.<\/p>\n
The conference called for joint programmes in mosques, religious schools and Islamic institutions to strengthen cooperation and dialogue. It also urged greater focus on introducing the virtues and biography of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, through scholarly, cultural and awareness programmes.<\/p>\n
Participants said such efforts can help promote love, tolerance and mutual respect while reducing extremism, sectarianism and division.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the conference, scholars expressed appreciation for the efforts of national and security institutions in maintaining stability.
