Videos circulating on social media show Bhupesh Joshi, identified as a local leader of the Hindutva group Kali Sena, addressing a gathering in Bairagiwala village near Dehradun. In the footage, he urges Hindus to drive Muslims out of the area and objects to the presence of mosques and the adhan.<\/p>\n
The remarks came amid heightened communal tensions following the killing of Vinod Kumar Kashyap, a local leader of India\u2019s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. His death reportedly followed a violent dispute linked to access to irrigation water from a government tube well.<\/p>\n
The incident led to protests by Hindu extremist groups. Local reports said some protesters raised anti-Muslim slogans, threw stones, set fires and targeted a house belonging to a person accused in the killing.<\/p>\n
Authorities later demolished several properties linked to some of the accused, saying they were illegal structures. Such demolitions have drawn criticism from rights groups and opposition figures, who accuse authorities in several Indian states of using bulldozers as a form of collective punishment, particularly against Muslims.<\/p>\n
