\nThe office of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, announced that the crescent moon of Muharram had not been proven according to the religious criteria accepted by His Eminence, may his shadow endure.<\/p>\n
In a brief statement received by Shia News Agency, the office said that Tuesday, June 16, 2026, will complete the month of Dhu al-Hijjah.<\/p>\n
Accordingly, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, will be the first day of Muharram 1448 AH, marking the beginning of the month of mourning and the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family and his companions, peace be upon them, in the eternal tragedy of Karbala.<\/p>\n
