More Than 700 Permits Issued for Ashura Moukebs in Karbala

\nMore than 700 official permits have been issued for the establishment of Moukebs in the holy city of Karbala ahead of the month of Muharram and the Ashura mourning ceremonies.<\/p>\n
The Husseini Rituals and Processions Department, affiliated with the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and al-Abbas, peace be upon them, announced that 746 permits have been granted to Moukebs that will serve mourners during the first ten days of Muharram.<\/p>\n
Moukebs are volunteer service stations that provide free food, drinks, shelter, medical assistance and other services to pilgrims and mourners taking part in the ceremonies.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Karim Aziz, head of the department, said initial preparations for the first ten days of Muharram and the Ashura rituals have been completed. He added that a special committee has been formed to organize the issuance of official permits.<\/p>\n
The preparations follow a meeting attended by Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, Hassan Rashid al-Abaji, members of the board of directors, and department heads, during which arrangements for the Muharram season were discussed.<\/p>\n
The mourning programs are scheduled to begin on the eve of Muharram with the traditional flag-changing ceremony and continue until the tenth day, Ashura, with the Tuwairij rituals.<\/p>\n
