According to Arab News, the petition was filed in Dhaka by lawmaker Mujibur Rahman Iqbal, who accused the previous caretaker administration of negligence for allegedly failing to procure measles vaccines and conduct a mass immunization drive scheduled for 2024\u20132025.<\/p>\n
The petition named Yunus, former health adviser Nur Jahan Begum and three others. The petitioner\u2019s lawyer alleged that UNICEF had repeatedly warned authorities about the consequences of delayed vaccination. The court reportedly dismissed the plea the same day, though the lawyer said he planned to seek revision after receiving the written order.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh officially recorded the outbreak on March 15. Since then, hospitals have reported a sharp rise in measles cases among children, with tens of thousands admitted with symptoms.<\/p>\n
Health experts say at least 95 percent vaccination coverage is needed to stop measles transmission.
