\nThe Nigerian Army says troops have killed five militants and rescued 31 kidnapped people during separate security operations in the northern states of Zamfara and Katsina.<\/p>\n
According to reports citing Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division, the hostages were freed around the Bagega\u2013Kawaye axis in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State after an air operation and follow-up ground assault on militant hideouts.<\/p>\n
The army said the rescued victims had spent several weeks in captivity, received medical care, and would be reunited with their families.<\/p>\n
