According to Muslims Around the World, Islam in Belarus is closely linked to the Lipka Tatars, a Muslim community of Tatar origin that settled in the region between the 14th and 15th centuries. Many were invited to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which then included present-day Belarus, in exchange for military service.<\/p>\n
