According to the United Nations Development Programme, disruptions to fuel and fertiliser supplies\u2014largely due to blocked shipping through the Strait of Hormuz\u2014are already reducing agricultural productivity and are expected to lower crop yields in the coming months.<\/p>\n
UN officials also warned of broader economic impacts, including energy shortages, declining remittances, and a reduction in global GDP. The Food and Agriculture Organization cautioned that a prolonged disruption in the strait could trigger a global food crisis, with countries such as India, Bangladesh, and several African nations among the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n
In addition, the conflict is straining humanitarian operations, with aid routes disrupted and funding already under pressure.
