British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Oman\u2019s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq discussed the failed negotiations in a call on Sunday, with both leaders stressing the need to avoid escalation and maintain the ceasefire, according to a Downing Street spokesperson.<\/p>\n
They also highlighted the importance of restoring safe maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz, amid ongoing regional tensions. Starmer reaffirmed the United Kingdom\u2019s commitment to supporting Oman and continued international coordination efforts.<\/p>\n
Separately, the European Union urged continued diplomatic engagement, describing diplomacy as \u201cessential\u201d and praising Pakistan\u2019s mediation efforts during the talks. Russian President Vladimir Putin also told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that Moscow is willing to assist in mediating a political settlement, according to a Kremlin statement.
