Bangladesh Submits Data of 800,000+ Rohingya Refugees to Myanmar for Repatriation

\nBangladesh\u2019s Foreign Minister has announced that the government has shared detailed data on more than 800,000 Rohingya refugees with Myanmar as part of efforts to facilitate their eventual return.<\/p>\n
Speaking before parliament, Foreign Minister Khalil Rahman said that information on 829,036 refugees had been provided as a preliminary step toward repatriation. He noted that while thousands of identities have been verified, ongoing military operations in Myanmar continue to delay the actual return process.<\/p>\n
According to the minister, of the more than 350,000 cases reviewed so far, over 253,000 individuals have been confirmed as former residents of Myanmar, marking progress in verification efforts.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh reiterated its commitment to a voluntary and dignified repatriation process, while also pursuing international legal and diplomatic efforts through forums such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to ensure accountability for alleged atrocities.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh currently hosts around 1.2 million Rohingya refugees, most of them living in camps in Cox\u2019s Bazar, widely described by the UN as the largest refugee settlement in the world.
