Poll Finds British Muslims Highly Pro-Democracy and Strongly Identify With UK

\nA new nationally representative poll shows that British Muslims are more pro-democracy and feel a stronger sense of belonging to the UK than the general population.<\/p>\n
Conducted by Opinium in October 2025 and commissioned by the Concordia Forum, the survey found that 85 percent of British Muslims consider democracy \u201cthe best system of government,\u201d compared with 71 percent of the wider public. Support for \u201cequal treatment under the law for all faiths and none\u201d stood at 94 percent among Muslims, versus 80 percent of the general population.<\/p>\n
The poll also found high levels of civic engagement: 93 percent of Muslims reported feeling they belong in the UK, while seven in ten said they feel \u201ccompletely or mostly loyal\u201d to the country, compared with half of the general public. Eight in ten Muslims interact with non-Muslims at least weekly, and 38 percent reported personal or family service in public roles.<\/p>\n
Muddassar Ahmed, founder of the Concordia Forum, said the findings highlight that \u201cmillions of British Muslims are deeply embedded in the civic life of this country and share the same democratic values as their fellow citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n
